The rhythm of sizes gives the piece movement, and you can tune it with Maple or Black wood, three leather colors, and Antique Brass or Polished Nickel fittings.

It spans 52 inches with a slimmer depth of about 11.5 inches, which makes it a good match for a narrower island, a long farmhouse table or a buffet run in a dining room. The cables let you set the overall height anywhere from 30 to 120 inches, from an 8-foot kitchen to a soaring great room.

Its built-in LEDs give about 1500 lumens of 3000K light with 90 CRI, and it dims with ELV or triac controls, with no bulbs to buy. Vaulted ceilings are fine, since the cable canopy adapts to 45 degrees. Rated for dry locations, it is made to order in Vermont.

Designer tip: Over a table, keep the lowest globe roughly 30 to 36 inches above the surface.

Handcrafted in the USA by Modern American Blacksmiths. Hubbardton Forge has designed and built its lighting in Vermont since 1974.
