This MR8 fixture has a basic trim and a clear tempered soda-lime lens. It sits almost flush with the surface, so it all but disappears by day.

It is about 2 inches wide and 3 inches tall. Install it in a retaining wall, a seat wall, a step riser or a deck fascia to light the surface below.

It takes an MR8 bi-pin lamp up to 2 watts, not included, on 12-volt power from a landscape transformer, sold separately. It is wet rated with a 72-inch lead. Choose black brass or centennial brass. The low wattage keeps the light gentle and the transformer load small, which suits a long row of fixtures along a wall.

Designer tip: Use recessed lights in hardscape where a surface fixture would be bumped.
