It reads as a slim vertical column of light with a strong Art Deco feel, in aged gold brass for warmth or matte black for a modern edge.

The extra height suits taller mirrors, a wide powder room wall, a stair landing or a living room where you want sconces to make a statement. Set the center around 60 to 66 inches from the floor, or a little higher on very tall walls. At 5 inches wide and 6 inches deep, it fits between mirror and window trim.

Two E26 sockets accept medium bulbs up to 40 watts each. The ribbing scatters the light into soft streaks, giving a lively glow without bare glare. Thanks to its damp rating, it can flank the mirror in a steamy primary bath as well as a dry hall.

Designer tip: Mount a pair so the glass cylinders line up with the top and middle of the mirror.
